Educating Seniors about Fall Prevention is just another way we can help.

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

American Medical Alarms joined the fight last year to help educate seniors about fall prevention. Being a leader in the medical alarm industry we hear so many stories about seniors falling and the sometimes devistating effects falls can have on seniors. While our medical alarm is vital in helping seniors who fall get the help they need, educating seniors on ways they can prevent falls is equally important.

We are here to help seniors, that’s what we do. We want every senior to have our medical alarm system because we know that seniors with our system are able to live independently in their home for an average of six years longer than those without one and that they are more likely to remain active (a major factor in preventing falls) because they feel more secure knowing they can get help if they need it. We also know that it provides a great deal of peace of mind for seniors and their families.

We also want every senior to be healthy and remain active for as long as they can so we began an aggressive campaign last year to help educate seniors on fall prevention. It’s another way that we can help increase the level of protection and safety our seniors need. There are some basic steps that all seniors should take to help prevent falls which we have outlined in our Fall Prevention Guide. This guide is FREE and is included with our brochure which you can request online at http://www.americanmedicalalarms.com or by calling Toll Free (800) 542-0438.

If you are an business or organization that works closely with seniors in your community please call and speak with us about this and other Free resources we have available.

Help for Caregivers Comes in the Unusual Form of a Medical Alarm

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

Having heard countless stories from the family members we work with here at American Medical Alarms we know that being the caregiver for your parents can be emotionally stressful and challenging to say the least.

One of the most difficult challenges caregivers face is finding time for themselves without feeling guilty or worrying about their parents. The value of a medical alarm is often overlooked by caregivers but can be a significant factor in providing some relief and peace of mind for them as they face the challenging task of caregiving for their parents. These systems which are easy to set up, easy to use and cost only pennies a day can open a variety of avenues for caregivers while also providing added protection for their parents.

There are many reasons you might be considering a medical alarm for your parents but don’t overlook the benefit to you as well. By having a medical alarm for your parents you can have peace of mind that when you need to run an errand or take a break your parents will be able to get help if they need it with just the push of a button.

The way the medical alarm system works is, in an emergency, your parent would press a button they are wearing (they can choose from one worn around the neck or one worn like a watch) and within seconds they will be connected with our monitoring center. If your parent is unable to respond or speak with us for some reason we will immediately dispatch their local rescue. However, if they prefer, they can ask to us call a neighbor or a friend to come over and help them. It’s that simple.

What that means to you as a caregiver is that you can be gone for a couple of hours running errands without having to worry that something has happened and your parent needs help. You can take a nap or take a day off and still have the peace of mind that your parents are not alone and can get help when they need it.

Here is a list of ways a medical alarm can help both you and your parents:

·         Your parents can get help if they need it with just the push of a button no matter what time of day or night.

·         Your parents will also have peace of mind and feel more independent if you are able to leave them for longer periods of time.

·         You will have peace of mind knowing that while you are away your parents can get help if they need it.

So, give yourself some peace of mind and get a medical alarm system today from American Medical Alarms, Inc. Visit us online at www.americanmedicalalarms.com or Call Toll Free at (800) 542-0438.
